I originally worked with Debra at my previous company - which was design + build. “Debra Winston has assisted us with two discrete projects, a primary bath project and a kitchen and dining nook remodel. In both cases, when I think about the relative value of each of the budget line items of these two projects, Debra's services would be at the top of this list. The designs achieve high standards of function, ergonomics and esthetics.

In the conception phase Debra efficiently introduces ideas and concepts and provides clear and gentle feedback when customer input conflicts with functional or esthetic sensibilities. As customers, we had a lot of difficulty arriving at the degree of drama we wanted in our projects. I observed that Debra was very flexible artistically in providing input to each of these scenarios and flexible visually in introducing various color combinations and achieving various levels of emotional impact. With some combinations, I immediately "got it." In other scenarios, it took about a day for me to appreciate the idea because the color combinations were less obvious. However, never once did a suggestion she put forth seem weird.

A specific example of Debra's skill was a very late request to introduce bold cabinet hardware and kitchen faucet. Debra made some final tweaks with the tile selection that truly supported the introduction of bold hardware and made it more of a focal point. Another area of contribution was the interface with the contractor team. Debra is competent in this area as well. In both projects, I saw her communicating with the contractor team to make certain details more graceful. In one project, it seemed like a discussion between equals. In the other project, it seemed like Debra was educating the contractors and they were happily obtaining knowledge that they would use in future projects.

Bottom line, I would not hesitate to hire Debra again for a third project and I recommend her.”
