Project Overview
This standard-size bathroom in San Mateo was transformed into a calming retreat that blends thoughtful design with cultural sensitivity and durability. Designed for a family originally from Japan, and with a son on the autism spectrum who finds comfort in baths and showers, the space needed to be beautiful, functional, and highly resilient.

Our son is autistic and finds comfort in water-his daily soaking bath helps him relax and feel calm.
Debra designed a bathroom that truly supports our family's needs. She added a solar-powered skylight above the tub that brings in fresh air, natural light, and excellent ventilation.
The custom vanity includes a smart docking drawer just for the hair dryer, and the lighted medicine cabinet offers generous, functional storage.
Debra had a clear vision and guided us with care and understanding. Thanks to her, we now have a beautiful, thoughtful bathroom that feels like a dream come true.
