NARI/Meta Gold Award Winner
RotY Regional Winner
A dated 1950s duplex in San Jose was transformed into a bold, award-winning home designed for multi-generational living, accessibility, and personal expression. With one partner undergoing cancer treatment and a growing extended family nearby, the space needed to support future mobility needs-without compromising on style. The result is a vibrant, functional, and emotionally resonant home full of thoughtful design choices.
The prestigious NARI Remodeler of the Year™, formerly Contractor of the Year (CotY), awards are presented each year by NARI Headquarters to NARI members who have demonstrated outstanding work through their remodeling projects.
Kitchen & Great Room: Making Waves
We removed a wall to open the kitchen to the living space, enhancing flow and connection for daily life and entertaining. A bold gunmetal island anchors the space, complemented by glossy white cabinets and shimmering aqua glass tile. An expanded patio door improves indoor-outdoor living, perfect for family gatherings. The design supports the client’s gourmet cooking lifestyle while blending seamlessly with their edgy, expressive taste.
Primary Bath: Shining Silver Sanctuary
This accessible yet glamorous bath includes a curbless roll-in shower with brushed metal grab bars, floating vanity for wheelchair clearance, and teak bench. Burnished metallic tiles, glittering mosaics, and silver ‘ribbon candy’ pendant lights deliver a sense of luxury. A 5-foot-tall recessed cabinet is customized to store nail polish, fragrances, and personal items-bringing style and function together.
Hall Bath: Fierce & Fabulous
Designed with grandchildren in mind, this bath is playful and bold. Graphic tile and a whimsical dinosaur shower curtain make bathtime fun, while the sleek layout keeps it accessible and easy to maintain.
Media Wall: A Little Macabre, A Lot of Charm
Skull wallpaper, sculptural busts, and sparkling accents create a statement wall that’s both moody and magnetic. Floating shelves provide display space for tongue-in-cheek treasures, while built-ins offer practical storage. The design captures the homeowners’ sense of humor and adventurous spirit.
Bold Welcome: Modern Entry with Personality
A vibrant orange door and natural materials set the tone for this lively and inviting home. Simple, bold contrast provides curb appeal that’s fresh and confident.
